Still scratching my head over a bumper sticker I saw on our road trip through the States.
“It’s not Right or Left – It’s Right or Wrong”
It took me a little while to actually figure out what this was about. A political statement I finally decided. What disturbed me was the implication that it’s not about options, choices, informed debate, growing through our differences – it’s about who’s right and who’s wrong and YOU who have a different viewpoint from ME are definitely the one who is WRONG.
Yikes. How representative is that of the majority? I’d like to think that it’s not and I wonder if I’m being naive.
And yet if I label that sentiment or approach as WRONG, then aren’t I doing the same thing that I’m thinking they’re doing?
Wondering how to move from right and wrong to open dialogue in all aspects of my life.
